We’re talking exclusive access, knowledgeable guides, and luxury experiences that elevate any trip. Whether you want to experience the National Parks, go on an over-the-top RV trip, explore charming coastal towns, or something in between, the US offers something for everyone. And keep your expectations high, because there is plenty of opportunity for wow moments that can take your trip to the next level. While an African safari is on many people’s bucket lists, you can actually have phenomenal animal encounters here in the US. From bears in California to whales in Alaska, bison and elk in the Rockies, and alligators in the southeast, there is an abundance of animals to see in America. Beyond Boutique works with top-notch tour guides who will provide you with the perfect Instagram photo! Click here to learn more about my Alaska cruise.
You can’t discuss wildlife encounters without immediately thinking about the Big 3: Yosemite, Yellowstone, and the Grand Canyon which can all be visited with a fun one-week itinerary.
One of my favorite vacations was last fall when we took an Alaska cruise. We spotted whales and seal from the ship and bears, caribou, moose, a porcupine and fox on a land excursion.
See the country by water!
As someone who lives a mile from the ocean, I am a true believer that there is nothing like spending time on the water. For me, the allure of the ocean, unparalleled views of the coast, or the rocking of a boat can’t be beaten.
Taking a private yacht charter provides an all-inclusive vacation. A professional captain guides your on-the-water journey, so you can rely on his/her local expertise and look forward to discovering your destination’s best-kept secrets! Plus, you will have your own personal chef on board. You will send in your preference sheet prior to sailing, so the chef will have all of your favorite foods onboard. You can spend the morning on the water; water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, or snorkeling, and in the afternoon enjoy the scenery with your family and the evening watch sit on the deck listening to the waves splash against the boat. The Moorings are my go-to charter company.
For those seeking adventure and knowledge, and an expedition might be right for you. You’ll get to see some of America’s most beautiful coastlines, learn about wildlife from experts, and have adventures that you’ll remember for a lifetime. A Lindblad-National Geographic expedition is arguably the finest expedition cruise line offering itineraries that include Alaska, Baja California, the Pacific Northwest within the US.
Examples of US Expeditions:
Kayaking through Misty Fjords National Monument & Walker Cove.
Discovering the Lewis & Clark Wildlife Refuge of the Pacific Northwest on Zodiacs or kayaks.
Trekking through untouched forests, perfectly preserved in the immense Alaskan backcountry.
Hiking across the frozen tundras of Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska.
Sailing the historic Eastern coast of the United States, including NY, Maine & Boston, Massachusetts.
Navigating in the blue waters of the Hawaiian Islands
In my opinion, glamping is the best way to enjoy being close to nature without compromising on the comforts of an upscale holiday. If you love camping but can’t live without the luxury you’ve come to expect on a vacation, then upscale tented camps may be the answer for you. The Ranch at Rock Creek and The Resort at Paws Up to name a few offer luxury tented camp experiences. But don’t let the word tent fool you, they come complete with electricity, bathrooms, and plush amenities, all with activities sure to please.
Beyond Boutique can arrange for overnight rafting trips or even as your home base for exploring secluded areas like the North Rim of the Grand Canyon or Lake Powell. We work with several DMC’s, but American Excursionist is one of the best in the industry. They offer glamping at several truly amazing properties including Amangiri’s ultra-luxurious desert oasis. Camp Sarika is a cluster of ten canvas-topped pavilions that elevate glamping to new heights amid a stunning landscape of towering mesas, slot canyons, and rust-colored sands.
For anyone seeking unique experiences, nothing can compare to luxury motorcoach travel. In my mind, it’s luxury travel redefined. This is an option that allows you to skip flying. I work with a fantastic company that delivers a turnkey experience! GossRV is without a doubt my go to travel partner for this type of travel, as they make sure every detail is managed for you, and professional drivers are available to take you anywhere you want to go. Traveling by RV allows you to explore America’s most scenic and historic destinations with customizable motorcoach tours I love their suggested itineraries. They have an extensive list of routes throughout the US.
With all that’s going on in the world, when I think of relaxation, the first thing that comes to mind is a wellness retreat. This may involve personal pampering (think spa treatments – yes please!) or combine pampering with fitness. Most wellness vacations are active and taken among nature, perhaps hiking, kayaking, or biking, or they may involve indoor activities such as fitness classes, cooking classes, or yoga.
One of my favorite wellness resorts is Miraval, located in Arizona, and newly opened Austen Texas and the Berkshires. Miraval’s mission is to support individuals on their journey (not the destination) to creating a life in balance. Activities include wellness counseling, meditation, challenge course, hiking, climbing, spa, etc. And the dining is divine.
Another fabulous option is Canyon Ranch, with locations in Arizona, Massachusetts, California, and Nevada. They are the world’s recognized leader in healthy living and luxury spa vacations, with destination spa resorts and facilities and philosophies on land, at sea and in the air. At every Canyon Ranch venue, they remain true to our healthy lifestyle goals and vision-based history.
They believe that when you visit your experience is an immersive exploration of mind-body wellness in a relaxed setting of casual elegance and unsurpassed personal service – where every moment is yours to savor. While there you can enjoy fitness, wellness, and spa activities.
From Wine to Whiskey
If you are a bourbon lover, then the Kentucky Bourbon Trail is an awesome vacation option. Distilleries to visit include Bardstown: Bardstown Bourbon Company, Evan Williams, and Willet (The Bar at Willet is a 2020 James Beard award finalist), Lawrenceburg: Wild Turkey, Loretto: Maker’s Mark distillery, Frankfort: Buffalo Trace, Louisville: Angel’s Envy, Evan Williams, and Stitzel-Willet. And for foodies, James Beard-nominated Chef Ouita Michel has been chef-in-residence at Woodford Reserve Distillery!
Wine lovers shouldn’t miss visiting Napa, where they can stay at one of my favorite properties, Meadowood Napa Valley. It’s nestled among acres of huge oak forest and truly is a destination by itself. The luxury hotel has 85 cottages and suites, with wine bars, fireplaces, outdoor porches or terraces. Guests can take advantage of their 4 miles of hiking trails, outdoor pools, tennis courts, nine-hole golf course, championship croquet lawn, extensive spa, and fitness center with free daily classes. The hotel has spectacular dining options, including its own Michelin three-star restaurant! And in addition to the usual Virtuoso added amenities, they also provide a welcome amenity of a box of handcrafted Napa Valley Chocolates for our guests.
I also highly recommend driving to Sonoma and spending a few days at The Farmhouse Inn. I am still a little heartbroken that I had to cancel my trip to the inn last April and vow to reschedule soon! Situated in the Russian River Valley, it contains the famed Michelin-starred restaurant, Farmhouse, which attracts an international following of farm-to-table foodies. Recently restored, built in 1873, the Farmhouse Inn, offers twenty-five elegant rooms, including eight cottages with dry saunas, are decorated in woodsy-chic style with white linen furniture, private patios, and two-way gas fireplaces that warm both the indoor and outdoor spaces. The concierge will reach out to you prior to your arrival to help you plan your stay. Your personal sommelier will stock your in-room fridge to suit your taste. And we offer our clients complimentary hand-curated wine tasting itineraries to the top 25 hand-selected winery partners in Sonoma with all fees waived, VIP access, and membership benefits as a guest of Farmhouse.
For those history buffs and lovers of the movie National Treasure or the musical Hamilton, there are plenty of possibilities for you to indulge your passion.
You can visit Philadelphia, PA and see Independence Hall after-hours or stand in front of the liberty bell, go to Washington DC for a behind-the-scenes look in the Capitol, see the iconic monuments, or even go on a private tour of Mount Vernon, or enjoy Williamsburg, VA where you may experience colonial life, learn about America’s early history in Jamestown, and visit Yorktown.
Or head west to New Mexico to visit Santa Fe where you could discover the history and culture of the Pueblo people and enjoy a private tour of Georgia O’Keeffe’s studio or go to Taos and witness a working Native American community and learn about the town’s history.
We are so fortunate to live in this vast, spectacular country that truly offers something for everyone. Reach out to me to learn more.
